Have you seen these marks in the news?

That's because each of these photos were taken of a celebrity after receiving Cupping Therapy!

So what is Cupping Therapy?

In contrast to deep tissue massage, where muscles and soft tissue are compressed, cupping suctions the soft tissues away from the body, helping to separate the tissues. This creates negative pressure, allowing the joints, muscles, connective tissue and fascia to have more “breathing space” around each other. This negative pressure also aids in the draining of excess fluids from the soft tissues, helps to release adhesions and encourages blood flow to the specific areas treated. The other benefit of cupping over deep tissue techniques is its ability to be used in areas where compressive force would be contra-indicated such as over the spinous processes of the spine and other bony prominences.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Cupping is also making waves in the treatment of cellulite, and as an alternative facial treatment to Botox, bringing cupping to many spa’s across the country. Medical cupping can be used to help a variety of conditions such as chest congestions, joint stiffness and pain associated with arthritis, acute and chronic digestive disorders and many muscular-skeletal issues. The applications are endless!
